Vestel and JVC yesterday announced
the details of their partnership. According to the recently signed
agreement Vestel will distribute JVC products (TV sets, CD DVD and video
players, plasma TVs, home cinema systems, A/V receivers, videos, digital
and analogue cameras), with after sale service. Vestel CEO Omer Yungul said
that they produced 400,000 JVC branded TVs, and 300,000 DVD players in
2002, and these figures will be raised to 600,000 and 350,000 next year.
Yungul also said that they will make a minimum USD 100mn worth of
JVC-branded products in 2003.
The company targets to strengthen its
leader position in Europe with 6.5mn TV production next year, and will be
the top company among Türkiye's exporters, he said. Zorlu Group CEO Ahmet
Nazif Zorlu said that they will make USD 1.25bn of exports this year, and
USD 1.5bn in 2003. He noted that Vestel's share in world TV production is
5.5%. 4.8mn of TV production in 2001 will jump to 6.5mn this year and 7mn
in 2003, he furthered.
